We're Halfway Through Flight Training Here at JAARS

It’s hard to believe that we’re already halfway through our Pre-Field Orientation training at JAARS. Brad has completed the first phase of flight training and his initial solo in the Robinson R66. In fact, it was Brad’s first ever solo in a helicopter! While flying in the Air Force he always had another pilot with him. He’s also done sling-loads, picking up and transporting cargo on the hook underneath the aircraft. Slinging cargo to and from the village is a common way that JAARS enables translators to do their work.

Cambria and Brad will have a PFO mid-course review this week on Wednesday. The JAARS leadership team is working through details for us concerning our assignment and timeline. While we still believe we are on the right track for Papua New Guinea, we are asking for wisdom and clarity for the team here.

Cambria and Brad also attended a 3-day security class taught by Concilium. We learned how to understand and prepare for risks in the field. Much of the training was scenario based and was a little intense at times.

We've been continually blessed while we’ve been here. The community and friends we’ve found are simply wonderful. Some of the families we’re training with will be leaving soon, and we’re already getting sad to say goodbye. We are truly enjoying our time here, and we’re so thankful to each of you for walking with us and praying alongside us!
