Flying at the Franconia Fall Festival

Flying at the Franconia Fall Festival
Brad taking the B206 helicopter to get some fuel

Today was our first day this trip engaging the public at large and offering helicopter rides. Franconia holds a big fall festival every year on the city park grounds, and JAARS participates to tell people about what we do and give rides. This year we took both the R66 and B206 helicopters. In fact this was the first time JAARS has used both helicopters to give rides at an event like this away from our home airfield in Waxhaw!

Operating both helicopters and giving rides

Brad flew two shifts totalling about 4 hours of flying and did 20 rides. Meanwhile Cambria worked at the tent telling the festival-goers all about the organization, and God's work through JAARS. The kids mostly ran around with the other families who are here, but they also got to enjoy the festival some.

The night ended with a massive fireworks show the festival put on. It was one of the largest shows we've ever seen!
